NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man is accused of drugging a woman and taking her to a motel to sexually assault her.

Tamal Curry, who’s a 35-year-old mechanic, has denied attempting to rape the 29-year-old teacher at the Smith’s Motel on December 20, 2023.

At his trial before Justice Loren Klein and a nine-member jury, the woman testified that she had no idea how she got to the motel, leading her to conclude that Curry had drugged her drinks when she left them unattended.

The woman said she put up a struggle and prevented a partially-dressed Curry from raping her.

Before waking up half-naked in the motel, the witness testified that she saw Curry at Shot O Clock on Prince Charles Drive, where she was having drinks with a female friend.

Curry said she was familiar with Curry because she had bought car parts from him before.

The witness alleged that she and her friend went to the bathroom together and continued drinking their beverages when they returned.

The woman said her last recollection was going to her car to go home, which was about an eight-minute drive away.
