NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A former accounts clerk at the Bahamas Islands Co-Operative Credit Union is accused of stealing more than $1.2m over a 10-year period.

Prosecutors allege that 48-year-old Waydrissa Seymour stole a total of the funds from 11 account holders, beginning in May 2016.

Prosecutors allege that Seymour stole the money by using fraudulent withdrawal request forms to access funds from the accounts.

She appeared in court alongside her 68-year-old mother, Clarissa Seymour, where they were accused of laundering the money.

Seymour and her mother were granted bail in the amounts of $300,000 and $30,000 respectively.

They denied the allegations at their arraignment before Senior Magistrate Kendra Kelly.

The matter was adjourned to January 27, 2027, for trial.
