NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Teachers and administrative staff at Thelma Gibson Primary School calling in sick over the past few days.

Last month teachers protested in front of the school, telling media the school’s principal needed to be removed.

Bahamas Union of Teacher President Belinda Wilson says principal Olivia Daxon was on administrative leave for just over a week but has since returned to her post.

Wilson says teachers are not happy about it. The action taken by the teachers last month stems from an allegation of an incident between the school’s principal and a teacher.

Wilson says a police report was filed. Wilson now says a petition has been signed by scores of parents and teachers.
