FRANCE – A spokesman for the French government says the discovery of the body of a 12-year-old girl in a plastic box, in the courtyard of a Paris building has left France “profoundly shaken”.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested saturday for murder, rape of a minor, torture, acts of barbitary and concealing a corpse.

A 43-year-old man is charged with helping to hide the girl’s body. The French media identify the victim only as Lola.

News of her gruesome killing has sparked a vicious political debate after it was reported the main suspect was an immigrant who remained in the country despite a deportation order.
