Within 24 hours of Liz Truss’ resignation announcement, members of her conservative party are already lining up to take the job.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Within 24 hours of Liz Truss announcing her resignation as Prime Minister members of her conservative party are already lining up to take the job, among them Minister Penny Mordaunt.
However, opinion polls show the party could be facing a complete wipe out at the next election – still years away. Next week, the conservatives will have to choose a successor for Truss giving Britain its 5th prime minister in 6 years. Several British lawmakers -including scandal tarnished former Prime Minister Boris Johnson – are jockeying for support.The governing conservatives have ordered a lightning fast race at a time Britain can ill afford uncertainty at the top post.
Meanwhile, cost of living in the U.K. still a pressing issue as some tax payers lean on food banks for support.
