BPSU Not Pleased with Govt’s Proposal

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – President of the Bahamas Public Service Union Kimsley Ferguson is responding to a recent statement issued by State Minister for the Public Service stating that negotiations between the union and government are going well, saying that’s far from the truth.

“Disingenuous.” That is how Ferguson is describing that statement referring to negotiations.

Ferguson provided Our News with an email to the Chief Negotiator, Bernard Evans, dated September 7, requesting a date, time and place to commence negotiations.

Ferguson says that has yet to happen.

State Minister Pia Glover Rolle said in her statement that an offer was finalized on October 25 and that the BPSU is reviewing it.

Despite the release’s claim, Ferguson says membership was not pleased with the government’s proposal and there are still a number of outstanding issues.

Now the union has a counterproposal.

At this point, Ferguson says they intend to exhaust all other available avenues to resolve the matter before resorting to other forms of action to get the government’s attention.
