NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bahamasair making its inaugural trip from Freeport, Grand Bahama to Raleigh, North Carolina this afternoon. Officials hoping that the move will bring more economic activity to that northern island.

The flight made its arrival in Raleigh, North Carolina at 1:38 PM. Passengers applauded the Bahamasair pilots for a smooth landing.

Once in the Raleigh Durham International Airport, a short ceremony was held. President and CEO of the airport Michael Landguth says there is a lot of excitement surrounding the island of Grand Bahama.

Bahamasair’s board members says the new route is a testament of hard work and dedication.

And, as for the tourism sector, Acting Director General of the Ministry of Tourism Latia Duncombe says the flight will bring a major economic boost to Grand Bahama.
