NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An 18-year-old is dead tonight following a simple game of basketball in Masons Addition early Thursday morning, leaving the community shaken.

Shortly around 9:45am, police were called to the Masons Addition Park where an 18-year-old woman collapsed while playing a game of basketball.

According to Police Press Liaison Officer, Chief Supt. Chrislyn Skippings, the incident is currently classified as a sudden death until more information becomes available.

She confirmed there no were signs of bruising or lacerations.

Chief Supt. Skippings also notes that people on and around the court attempted to offer assistance to the victim. She is encouraging Bahamians to take the initiative to learn some form of CPR.
