NASSAU, BAHAMAS – If the new COVID variant prompts another rise in cases, how will that impact the country’s education system?

During the global pandemic, students in The Bahamas used a virtual online learning platform.

Now that a new COVID variant is spreading rapidly in some countries, education officials here are on high alert.

President of The Bahamas Union of Teachers, Belinda Wilson says they are monitoring the situation.

Acting Director of education, Dominique Russell confirming that the online learning platform is still functional should a rise in cases occur. The Education Director says today some students in the Family Islands are still using the virtual learning platform.
