NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Teen Challenge Bahamas Executive Director, Eric Fox says the issue of at-risk youth is deeper than blaming the issue on single parents.

Fox says while it can be easy to point the finger at single mothers, parenting can go beyond the bloodline and also come from the community.

He also warns that sometimes a parent’s reaction to the initial warning signs of teens acting out can further agitate the underlying issue.

Fox explains his method of looking at the problems as fruit on the tree – whether drugs or violence – explaining that removing the fruit is not as effective as addressing the root of the issue.
