NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamian diplomats who were extracted from Haiti last week are sharing their experience and detailing the events that led to their removal from the country in crisis.

Captain Godfrey Rolle, Chargé D’affaires at The Bahamas’ embassy in Haiti says the events that led to the extraction began on his birthday – January 26th. Captain Rolle relived the moments when the car carrying some of the group was suddenly stopped and relieved of their weapons.

The group of diplomats are all grateful for the fast action from the Bahamian government and the help of the Dominican Republic.

The order is temporary, and a security assessment will have to be done before the diplomats can return, something Rolle says will be done as soon as possible. But even after recent events, there was a clear desire from the diplomats to go back.
