Correctional Chief Outlines New Prison Wing Plans

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It’s one of the largest capital investments in the history of The Bahamas Department of Corrections and BDOCS Commissioner Doan Cleare gave a breakdown of the project in Grand Bahama, Thursday.

Acting Commissioner of Corrections Doan Clare was tight lipped on plans for the new wing, but he said construction on the facility is set to begin this year and he says it will be one of the most modern facilities in the world.

He made the comments during a recruitment exercise on Grand Bahama, Thursday morning.

He says prison cells will be made out of steel, admitting the current conditions at the prison are not acceptable.

Cleare said government plans to implement a parole program soon, which should begin on Grand Bahama.
