NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Court of Appeal has refused to reduce the two year sentence imposed on a man who groped a woman as she walked along Carmichael Road.

Wilton Colebrooke was jailed after he admitted the offenses of indecent assault and indecent exposure in 2022.

His victim was walking when her exercise partner called out to get her attention.

When the 52-year-old woman turned around, she saw Colebrooke with his genitals exposed.

He grabbed the woman from behind and pressed his genitals against her. The woman pulled away and Colebrooke ran into bushes.  However, passers-by beat and detained Colebrooke until the police arrived.

In his interview with police, Colebrooke said that he had been watching his victim, whom he described as nice and solid,  for some time.

The Court of Appeal justices noted that Colebrooke’s bid to appeal his sentence was “woefully out of time” and lacked any prospects of success.
