Task Force Formed to Address Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Officials from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources are continuing to sound the alarm as one of our local natural attractions continues to be under attack from a fast spreading marine disease. 

A natural resource and tourist attraction for our islands is plagued with Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease commonly known as SCTLD.

The disease is highly lethal and can spread quickly among the coral reefs. 

Environment Minister Vaugnh Miller revealing that a study shows that the disease affects over half off all Caribbean coral species.

The minister says the matter should be taken seriously as coral reefs are an integral part of Bahamian life. 

He also explained that  despite the threat, the Davis administration has been taking steps to mitigate the issue. He says a task force has been formed to accomplish the following.
