Port President Weighs In On Water Hike Woes
GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The Grand Bahama Utility Company recently applied for a rate adjustment; the adjustment is not expected to impact some customers but is still a concern for a number of residents.
GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The Grand Bahama Utility Company recently applied for a rate adjustment; the adjustment is not expected to impact some customers but is still a concern for a number of residents.
President of the Grand Bahama Port Authority Ian Rolle sharing his views on the application submitted by the Grand Bahama Utility Company for a rate adjustment.
The adjustment isn’t expected to impact 40 percent of their customers who use less than 2,000 gallons.
The GBPA which serves as the regulators will have to make a decision come May 1st.
The GB Utility Company has lost $15 million since Hurrican Dorian and it’s becoming a challenge.
There have been complaints by Grand Bahamians who say they can’t afford any additional costs.
The GBPA president says if potability is lost and the water company doesn’t make some changes and invest in the necessary infrastructure that can be a huge loss for the island.
