Sister Questions Police Shooting of Her Brother

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The sister of a man who was shot to death by three off-duty police officers on Sunday described the incident as overkill. She is now seeking more information about what happened outside that bar on Fire Trail Road West.

Twenty-eight-year-old Fredia Major is demanding answers following the killing of her brother, 31-year-old Azario Major, who was shot dead by three off duty police officers outside a bar on Sunday night.

According to police, it was around 8pm on Sunday when three off duty police officers were at a bar located on Fire Trail Road when they had reason to speak to Major, who they say was acting in a disorderly manner.

They say Major left the bar, irate, and sped off in his vehicle. The police report says Major returned twice, and the second time one of the officers noticed him with a firearm. That’s when the officers produced their service weapons and shot Major, killing him.

The grieving sister says her family now has more questions than answers. She says she doubts that her brother would carry a firearm and has questions about how and why so many shots were fired. She also wonders why there is no video of the incident on social media.

The 31-year-old worked as a bartender and is described as a happy and fun person by his younger sister. As her family seeks closure, she is urging the public to question the police version of events.
