NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The National Security Minister on the defence over the price tag of the new correctional facility and virtual court to be constructed at The Bahamas Department of Corrections. His comments came after the Free National Movement questioned if there was a bidding process. He also sought to clear the air over the cost. Saying the government won’t pay the full $90 million upfront.

National Security Minister Wayne Munroe hitting back at the Free National Movement member Kwasi Thompson over the new price tag of the correction facility and the new virtual court.

In a statement, Thompson questioned if there was a bidding process and if the project went out to tender.

Last week the national security minister revealed the new price tag would be $90 million.

The current facility has been the subject of heavy criticism over the years from international bodies.

To the pushback from the opposition, Munroe says the government doesn’t have the time to play games.

Munroe says the project is led by walkers industry. The fabrication of the cells will be done by a company called steal cells from the America.

The national security minister also clarifying, the government will not pay $90 million upfront.
