NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 44-year-old man has admitted his involvement in two large marijuana seizures. 

Basil Johnson was on bail in connection with the 2021 seizure of 872 pounds of marijuana in Exuma when police allegedly caught him with 1,140 pounds of marijuana in Ragged Island on May 18.

Johnson pleaded guilty to both cases when he appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.

Meanwhile, his co-accused in the most recent case, Seth Cartwright, pleaded not guilty.

Both men return to court tomorrow. Johnson will be sentenced and Cartwright will learn whether he’ll be granted bail ahead of his trial.
