Former Cabinet Minister, George Smith, Dead At 83
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – George Smith, a former Progressive Liberal Party Cabinet Minister, is dead at the age of 83.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – George Smith, a former Progressive Liberal Party Cabinet Minister, is dead at the age of 83.
Mr. Smith served as the Member of Parliament for Exuma rom 1968 to 1992.
He also served as a Parliamentary Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister in charge of the Independence Secretariat in 1973 and was among the founding fathers of our Independent Nation.
Recently he served as a special advisor to the Bahamas government on activities related to the 50th anniversary of Independence.
Mr. Smith was looking forward to being interviewed by OurNews on the crafting of the document of Independence.
