Bahamian Performances In Dubai

Bahamians take center stage in historic performances at the World Expo 2020 in Duba, as Prime Minister Philip Davis visits the UAE.

Groups of Bahamians in historic performances today at the World Expo 2020 in Dubai. This, as Prime Minister Philip Davis begins his official visit to the United Arab Emirates.

 



Everyday dozens of visitors walk the halls of the Bahamas pavilion. It’s an up close and interactive journey into all aspects of Bahamian life and culture.

On Sunday morning, Prime Minister Philip Davis and Mrs. Davis got their first glimpse of the setup. The organizing committee spent 5 years preparing this showcase. Since October, visitors have enjoyed presentations on everything from conch salad making, to marching flamingos, to exquisite & unique artwork, and of course, Junkanoo.

Visitors to the World Expo site Sunday also experiencing Bahamian culture – through several live performances. However, these performances are not without controversy. Those not invited to take part have taken their frustrations to social media.

And… the show did go on. From to the outdoor stage with Shabacks’s repertoire of traditional Bahamian music to the indoor dramatic performance of Dynamite Daisy and cast.

The pavilion – a multi-million dollar, rent free gift to the Bahamas from the UAE government came in large part, to the efforts of the Bahamas Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates H.E. Tony Joudi. The Ambassador is confident this official visit has major investment opportunities and partnership potential.

Prime Minister Davis will lead the delegation to this site on Monday dubbed Bahamas National day at the World Expo.
A series of performances: the police, All-Star and Junkanoo bands – Lady E and the Dynamite Daisy productions are expected showcase the rich and diverse culture of the Bahamas in ways unseen in this part of the world.
