Lamar Taylor Wins Gold, Gets New National Record

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Lamar Taylor took home the gold medal in the 50-meter backstroke at the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador Wednesday.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Lamar Taylor took home the gold medal in the 50-meter backstroke at the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador Wednesday.

He won in a time of 25.08, a national record.

Taylor won three Division II national championships earlier this year.

The Bahamian Special Olympics Team, consisting of seven athletes returned from the games in Berlin with four medals.

Austin Green and Bronson Aranha won silver in doubles bowling, Caitlin Romer also returned with a silver in the 100m and a silver in the 200m.

They were greeted by a number of officials including Sports Minister Mario Bowleg and Gilbert Williams, head of the Bahamas Special Olympics Committee.

And finally, Jazz Chisholm hit a home run to help his Miami Marlins beat the Boston Red Sox 6-2 last night.

Jazz’s solo shot came in the 8th, giving the Marlins a 5-1 lead.

It’s his 8th of the year as well as his 20th RBI.
