NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Chairman of the Organization for Responsible Governance’s Economic Development Committee Hubert Edwards says for every dollar spent, 20 cents goes to pay debts” in this year’s budget.

Edwards is no stranger to analyzing our national budgets. This year, however, he says his focus is on the macro level impact of the budget.

Edwards points to one of the statements made that spoke to weaknesses in our economy when we were last downgraded.

Edwards, who was speaking at the weekly meeting for the Rotary Club of West Nassau, says being in a surplus will help The Bahamas manage what he considers our most significant challenge for the future, paying off our debt.
