NASSAU, BAHAMAS – More questions over Minister Keith Bell’s handling of Immigration procedures. This time, over renouncing citizenship.

Opposition leader Michael Pintard read the contents of an email allegedly written by Director of Immigration Keturah Ferguson to immigration minister Bell and Labour and immigration Permanent Secretary Cecilia Strachan.

The note said to be written more a year ago, raises issue with swearing in citizens of the Bahamas who were not renouncing citizenship to other countries.

During his comments last evening, Pintard called for the formation of a select committee on immigration.

Pintard spoke extensively about the growing list of questions and allegations of irregular processing within immigration cases.

He says even if the government does not want the files to be completely in the public domain, there needs to be an extra level of transparency.
