THE BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history, in 1999 The Bahamas won gold medal in the women’s 4×100 meter relay at the World Championships in Seville, Spain.
The team consisted of Savatheda Fynes, Chandra Sturrup, Eldece Clarke, Pauline Davis-Thompson and Debbie Ferguson who won in a world-leading time of 41.92 seconds.
With this win the quartet earned the moniker, the Golden Girls.

Then on August 29th, 2014 – seven months after then Prime Minister Perry Christie announced Cable & Wireless agreed to transfer 2% of shares back to the Bahamian people; the agreement was finalized.

In 2019 – then Environment Minister Romauld Ferriera announced government signed an agreement with Providence Advisors Waste Resources Development Group to privately operate and manage the city dump.
It was revealed at the time that it would take $130 million to transform the New Providence Landfill.

Finally in 2022 – was the start of the new school year which saw 100% face-to-face learning for the first time in two years.
