NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Getting to zero new infections and AIDS-related deaths is still a major goal for The Bahamas AIDS Foundation.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Getting to zero new infections and AIDS-related deaths is still a major goal for The Bahamas AIDS Foundation.
In 2019, 133 persons were newly diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in The Bahamas.
President Camille Lady Barnett says although they’ve made incredible strides over the years, their message remains the same.
And while HIV/AIDS can affect anyone, she says members of what they call the key population are those who experience stigma and discrimination the most.
And their goal is to provide family island support as well.
And as their efforts continue, comes the return of their major fundraiser, the 27th Annual Red Ribbon Ball, an event dedicated to supporting the fight against HIV/AIDS in the community.
This year’s ball will take place on Saturday, November 4th, in the Atlantis Grand Ballroom under the theme, “1,001 Arabian Nights.”
