NASSAU, BAHAMAS – What was intended to be an academic forum ended in a shouting match Thursday night as members of the audience inclusive of Bahamas Christian Council President Delton Fernander went back and forth with panellists during a presentation in celebration of Pride Week.

Fernander says they were invited to the forum at the University of The Bahamas.

For the most part, proceedings went smoothly as Dr. Kremild Saunders gave the keynote address.

It was during the question and answer segment when tempers flared.

Opposition came from Christian Council Vice President Pastor Mario Moxey who accused the forum of being one-sided.

This “peeling back” refers to the university’s decision to withdraw, then support again the forum last Sunday, after the Christian Council held a press conference condemning the event.

Questions were also raised about the logo used at the event, a Bahamian flag surrounded by the colours of the rainbow.

This inciting a back and forth between members of the audience and  presenters until the forum was shut down by one of the organisers who cited time constraints.
