LAS VEGAS – Jonquel Jones and her New York Liberty lost a rough one on Sunday evening in Game One of the WNBA Finals to the Las Vegas Aces 99-82.

JJ had another one of her trademark double-doubles scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds on 7 of 12 shooting as well as a block and a steal, but New York’s usually lights-out shooters did not show up on Sunday with the whole team going 9 for 20 from behind the arc.

League MVP Breanna Stewart had 21 points and 9 rebounds but it was a rough night for Sabrina Ionescu, the record holder for three-pointers made, only had 4 on Sunday.

Aside from their rough shooting night, the Liberty also had a difficult time defending the Aces’ perimeter combo of Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young who scored 26 points apiece. Chelsea Gray added 20.

The Liberty has a chance to get their shooting, and defense together in game two on Wednesday night in Brooklyn.
