NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former PLP Cabinet Minister Shane Gibson now has his sights set on the West Grand Bahama and Bimini seat following the death of former MP Obie Wilchcombe.

Gibson says there’s no doubt that he is the people’s choice.

Following Wilchcombe’s untimely passing, talks swirled of Gibson possibly filling the seat.

Gibson says he believes he’s been prepared for the position after serving as a trade union leader, Golden Gates MP, and serving in cabinet twice.

After losing his seat in the 2017 General Election, Gibson was brought up on bribery and extortion charges. He was acquitted in 2019.

We asked him to respond to those who say the ordeal makes him a tainted public figure.

But this isn’t the first time Gibson has offered himself to run again. In October 2022, a letter from  Gibson was leaked.

In it, Gibson offered himself as the PLP’s candidate for the MICAL constituency.
