Business Owner: West End Is Hurting

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – It’s about a thirty to forty-five-minute drive from the city of Freeport to West End, the home of hospitality.

While the community may seem small, it’s big in heart as residents who live and work there do their part to keep the community together.

Shabo’s and Sherry Conch Stand is just one of the many businesses Grand Bahamians love.

The decades-old family-owned business in West End opens their doors every day of the week. But owner, Sherica Smith admits that it’s no easy task as the bulk of the business only comes in on the weekend.

She says the community is hurting and there needs to be a vision for the community.

The business owner feels as if West End has been neglected as there aren’t many tourists in the community.

She also had this message for government.

And with several vying to become the Member of Parliament for the West Grand Bahama and Bimini constituency.

She’s asking residents to stay focus as she believes there is hope.
