NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Over in Bimini things were slow and quiet. At least until later in the day.

Enthusiastic voters finally had their say as to who will be the next candidate for West Grand Bahama and Bimini today.

While the voting process got off to a slow start today. One polling station got rocked with a health emergency when one voter passed out on the line.

Free National Movement Chairman Dr. Duane Sands was called to assist. The elderly man was taken to the local clinic.

Sands tells Our News the man was in stable condition at the clinic and had an underlying condition that could’ve caused the issue.

The incident however not stopping the process.

A little after 1pm Prime Minister and PLP Leader Philip Davis alongside PLP candidate Kingsley Smith arrived on the island.

Smith arrived at an energetic group of supporters on Bimini who say they’re confident in a win.

Free National Movement Candidate Bishop Ricardo Grant was on the same ferry as the PLP.

Grant telling reporters that by all accounts the process is going well. He says if elected, he plans to put a greater focus on Bimini.

Meanwhile, the prime minister assures Bimini that even if the PLP loses the seat Bimini will remain high on the government’s agenda

We also spoke to the Coalition of Independent Deputy Leader Maria Daxon. She says there is a low turnout in both West Grand Bahama and Bimini.
