NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 46-year-old father convicted of incest has been remanded to prison, pending sentencing. 

The man’s name has been withheld to protect the identity of his now 24-year-old daughter.

He sat emotionless as the jury foreman announced that he had been unanimously convicted of seven counts of incest.

The jury deliberated for an hour before returning their verdict.

The court heard that the man began sexually abusing his then 13-year-old daughter soon after his wife and her mother died in 2013.

When she got older, the woman testified that her dad would allow her to go on dates if she had sex with him. The woman said she didn’t know what he was doing to her was wrong.

The incident was reported to police in 2020.

Justice Renae McKay will begin the penalty phase of the trial on January 23, 2024.He has a pending incest case in relation to another daughter, who is now 20 years old.
