FNM Chairman: Why Was There No Investigation?
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Free National Movement Chairman Dr. Duane Sands says he’s in shock after Prime Minister Philip Davis revealed a formal investigation was not launched into contracts issued under former Water and Sewerage Chairman Sylvanus Petty.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Free National Movement Chairman Dr. Duane Sands says he’s in shock after Prime Minister Philip Davis revealed a formal investigation was not launched into contracts issued under former Water and Sewerage Chairman Sylvanus Petty.
While testifying in the Adrian Gibson trial in the Supreme Court, Petty revealed his daughter got a $26,000 dollar contract under WSC.
The prime minister asked for his resignation but Sands says more should’ve been done.
But that’s not the only red flag Sands sees in this ordeal. He’s questioning why Davis is the one who determines investigations.
These comments come amid reports other family members benefited from contracts and employment while Petty had oversight for the corporation.
Petty has remained silent since the revelation was made in court and his subsequent resignation.
The FNM Chairman says there should have been a probe.
Given the weight of what was revealed Sands doesn’t feel his resignation as chairman was enough.
But he says it’s a good start.
