Former Head Boy Speaks Out After Winning Court Battle

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Demiko Rolle Jr. was awarded $50,000 in damages by a Supreme Court judge after succeeding in an unlawful arrest claim.

Rolle was arrested after the swat team raided his home in search of drugs and guns.

During the search, officers found a shotgun belonging to his father which was unlicensed at the time.

His father was not arrested, but the teen was on suspicion of organized crime and thrown in the truck of a SWAT SUV.

Rolle and his family recall about 30 law enforcement officers invading their Adelaide Village home on September 16th, 2020 when he was arrested.

He says the ordeal has had lasting impact on him.

The now 20-year-old says at the time he felt humiliated by the situation.

Shaken up by the incident – Rolle was unable to take three BGCSE exams after he was released from police custody.

Rolle’s family released a two-page statement on the incident. In it, they called for the enforcement of body cameras on each police officer to prevent instances like these.

The former head boy says he views police officers differently, adding something needs to be done to prevent situations like this.

He had this to say to anyone who may end up in a similar situation.
