NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Tourism Minister Chester Cooper says more lifeguards could be on the way for public beaches. This coming after a woman had to be rescued after nearly drowning on a Paradise Island Beach.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Tourism Minister Chester Cooper says more lifeguards could be on the way for public beaches. This coming after a woman had to be rescued after nearly drowning on a Paradise Island Beach.
People are calling for more lifeguards after a near drowning scare, where a 65-year-old woman, visiting on a cruise, had to be saved by a vendor on Cabbage Beach over the weekend.
Police reports say a strong wave swept her from the shoreline into the water and left her submerged.
That quick-thinking vendor was able to save her life, bringing her back to the beach in time for ems to help her.
We asked the tourism minister whether or not he felt Bahamian beaches need more lifeguards.
Cooper says talks are underway to increase the number of lifeguards at public beaches.
