NASSAU, BAHAMAS – With 14 murders recorded for the year, The Prime Minister has promised strong anti-gang legislation as a way to help curb the violence. But what would this look like? And would the laws be enforceable?
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – With 14 murders recorded for the year, The Prime Minister has promised strong anti-gang legislation as a way to help curb the violence. But what would this look like? And would the laws be enforceable?
Anti-gang legislation has been a much-talked about topic ever since Prime Minister Philip Davis promised to pass those laws.
Many are asking how the new legislation would be framed. The current anti-gang legislation has been rarely used over the years.
Attorney General Ryan Pinder says while the penal code covers certain offenses for being a gang member, they are looking to bring progressive stand-alone legislation.
The attorney general says this will be key for targeting gangs.
