St. Augustine’s College Crowned 2024 B.A.I.S.S. Champions

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After three days of competition, records and CARIFTA qualifying standards, the St. Augustine’s College Big Red Machine repeated as B.A.I.S.S. Track and Field Champions.

The Big Red Machine totaled 1275.50 points to win their fourth consecutive meet.

The Queen’s College Comets finished second with 1260 points, while the Temple Christian Suns were third with 552 points

Several new meet records were set on day three.

The St. Augustine’s College Big Red Machine’s u15 girls 4×100 meter relay team set a new record of 48.77 seconds.

In the U-17 girls javelin, SAC’s Dior-Rae Scott set a new mark at 49.83 meters.

In the U-17 boys 200m, the Comets’ Ishmael Rolle’s time of 21.60 seconds to set surpassed the 20-year mark of 21.66 seconds.

The meet concluded with the Comets’ U-20 boys 4×400 meters setting the record of 3:18.28 seconds.

World Record Holder Returns Home

While the superstars of tomorrow were competing on the track and in the field, the meet took the time out to celebrate a superstar of today.

Sixty-meter hurdles world record holder Devynne Charlton made an appearance at the B.A.I.S.S. Track and Field meet.

Back at the place where her career started, Charlton, a St. Augustine’s College graduate offered words of encouragement to her Big Red Machine team headed into a pivotal day three.

The Mingoes will be hosting volleyball and basketball tryouts tomorrow at the Anatol Rodgers Gym. Women’s volleyball is up first at 10am.

At noon, the focus shifts to the basketball tryouts led by Head Coach Bacchus Rolle.
