NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Doctors Hospital recently launched this year’s “Bridge To The Future” STEM Camp, and students from across the country heard from Aisha Bowe, former NASA scientist and the first Bahamian slated to venture into space. She shared her inspiring journey and encouraged everyone to set their sights on outer space using an education in STEM to make their dreams reality.

Shannon Fawkes, a 12th-grade St. Andrews student who graduated from the program in 2023, is now set to fulfil his dream of studying pharmacology at Temple University. He praises the program for opening his eyes to the various possibilities in the medical field.

Dr. Diggis says these are the types of results the program seeks to obtain, and he pledges the company’s support to the next generation of STEM professionals.

The program, tailored for 10th to 11th-grade students, aims to inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers by providing mentorship opportunities and hands-on experiences.

Students apply for entry into the program, now in its sixth year, which provides mentorship opportunities and hands-on experience. The application process is highly competitive, with students applying for their chance at one of about thirty seats offered. Visit the Doctors Hospital’s website for more information on this and their other student programs.
