Don Jr: I Swam For my Dad, I Know He’s Proud of Me
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – In what could only be perceived as an act of courage, Don Saunders Jr. says he decided to compete because his father would’ve wanted him to.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – In what could only be perceived as an act of courage, Don Saunders Jr. says he decided to compete during the CARIFTA Open Water competition because his father would’ve wanted him to.
He was the second Bahamian to cross the finish line behind Malcolm Menzies.
Former Tall Pines MP Don Saunders Sr. was killed last Wednesday just after 9pm at a club in Gambier Village.
Police revealed on Tuesday that they have three people in custody and have gathered lots of cctv footage from the area which is assisting them with their investigations.
Despite that, Don Jr. says swimming is his peace and his teammates rallied behind him.
He also spoke about the race itself – he placed eighth in a time of one hour, six minutes and 53 seconds.
Don’s mom, Tiffaney Saunders, says the decision was all his to continue to compete.
