UNITED STATES – Billionaire businessman Frank McCourt has announced plans to assemble a consortium for acquiring TikTok’s U.S. business, joining a growing number of investors eyeing the platform amidst regulatory pressure. McCourt, known for his previous ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers, says he aims to prioritize people and data empowerment within TikTok’s framework. His proposal includes restructuring the platform to enhance transparency through an open-source protocol.

Despite interest from investors, TikTok’s parent company ByteDance remains resistant to selling the platform filing a lawsuit against the U.S. government to challenge the law mandating the sale. Additionally, TikTok creators have launched their own legal challenge this week, citing violations of their first amendment rights.
