NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Another historic landmark is about to be restored to the iconic attraction it once was. The Fort Fincastle Water Tower is next in line for restoration following the success of the recent renovation of the Queen’s Staircase. Marlena Leonard tells us about the planned makeover.

The iconic water tower at Fort Fincastle is almost 100 years old, dating back to 1928, and stands over 200 feet above sea level. At one time, sightseeing at the water tower and Queen’s Staircase was one of the most popular excursions in the region. Having been closed for many years, the Ministry of Works is now signing a contract to restore it to its former glory.

SJK Engineering and Construction is tapped to do the work. Their president, Stefan Knowles, expressed his amazement at the project. The Antiquities, Monuments, and Museum Corporation has been pushing for the landmark’s renovation for a long time, as their director, Chris Curry, explains.
