NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas’ path to the 2026 FIFA World Cup begins as hosts, but not at home.
The Bahamas football Association announced its roster for the upcoming World Cup CONCACAF regional qualifier.
The team is headed to St. Kitts and Nevis Thursday and will compete in group B with the hosts, Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Grenada.
Team Bahamas includes Goalkeepers: Amard Adderley and Michael Butler.
Defenders: Duane Beneby, Quinton Carey, Alexiou Cartwright, William Gardiner, Evelt Julmis, Johnathan Miller, Kai Perez, Lesly St. Fleur and Jean Tilo.
Midfielders: Brandon Adderley, Jordan Cheetham, Reuben Edgecombe, Deron Ferguson, Michael Massey, Daylan Russell and Jordin Wilson.
Forwards: Nahum Johnson and Wood Julmis
The team will be coached by Nesly Jean, assisted by Kevin Davies.
Due to ongoing renovations at the Thomas A. Robinson Atadium, The Bahamas is unable to host a true home match, therefore Thursday afternoon’s match against Trinidad and Tobago will be hosted at the SKNFA Technical Center in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Kickoff is set for 5:30pm.
On June 11, The Bahamas will face St. Kitts at 4:00 pm
In their last appearance in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers, The Bahamas played Trinidad and Tobago to a tie, eliminating the Soca Warriors from contention.
Track and Field
Some of the top athletes in the region will be heading to The Bahamas in one of the final opportunities to qualify for the Paris Olympics.
Over 170 athletes are expected to compete at the 3rd NACA Athletics New Life Invitational, June 16 at the original Thomas A. Robinson Stadium.
In addition to the qualifier, athletes have a chance to compete for a total prize purse of $76,000.
Athletes will receive $2,000 for gold medal, $1,000 for a silver medal, $500 for bronze, $300 for fourth, and $200 for fifth place.
The meet is a part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Label series.
It will feature short and long hurdles, 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m races, as well as 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
Gates open at 5pm and the first event gets underway at 6pm.
Baseball
Kristian Robinson’s 2024 was off to a slow start hampered by injuries, but the Arizona Diamondbacks prospect looks to be returning to form.
Robinson went 2-3 with a double and his second home-run of the season to lead his Amarillo Sod Poodles to a 4-2 win over the Tulane Drillers in double a baseball.
Robinson, the number 17 prospect in the Diamondbacks pipeline is hitting .290 in his last 9 games, including two home runs.
WNBA
It was a tough shooting night from the field for Jonquel Jones but her New York Liberty continued their win streak.
Jones finished with five points and 12 rebounds in New York’s 88-75 win over the Chicago Sky Tuesday night at the Wintrust Center in Chicago.
Jones is averaging 14 points, 9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 54 percent from the field and 38 percent from three.
