NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man accused of killing a former MP during an armed robbery will remain behind bars after a judge refused him bail.

Justice Gregory Hilton refused bail for 23-year-old Nicarson Nixon. Prosecutors say Nixon, while concerned with another, fatally shot Donald Saunders on March 27.

The former deputy speaker was at Rags Bar in Gambier Village when two men robbed the establishment of $650.

Prosecutors say Saunders was shot in the neck when the men tried to rob him. Nixon’s alleged accomplice, Jaico Choute, is also still in custody.
