NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Leaked voice recordings have left a blemish on the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF), causing many Bahamians to lose confidence in the institution.

According to Christian Council President Bishop Delton Fernander, the situation is deeply concerning.

The recordings have prompted an investigation into the CID, resulting in its chief being placed on leave. Fernander, who served on the force before leading the council, supports efforts to remove problematic elements from the armed forces.

As the security and intelligence branch delves into this public scandal, Fernander stresses the importance of a thorough investigation.

The police force is reeling from the damning recordings, and there is a growing call for international involvement in the probe.

Free National Movement Chairman Dr. Duane Sands even suggested a commission of inquiry, but Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell quickly dismissed this idea, calling it unnecessary.

A local daily recently reported that scotland yard was contacted to offer support where needed. However, officials have clarified that any involvement will be on an as-needed basis, with the rbpf still leading the investigation.

But with members of the public still questioning how they can trust a police force under such a cloud of suspicion, Fernander shared this.
