NEW YORK – Five people were shot Monday at New York City’s West Indian American Day Parade, police said, marking another violent incident at the annual celebration of Caribbean culture.
NEW YORK – Five people were shot Monday at New York City’s West Indian American Day Parade, police said, marking another violent incident at the annual celebration of Caribbean culture.
The shooting occurred around 2:35 p.m. in Brooklyn when a gunman opened fire on a specific group along the parade route.
Two victims are critically injured, while three others are expected to survive.
The gunman fled the scene. Despite the violence, the parade continued.
Police say they are seeking video footage to aid in their investigation.
The parade, a major labor day event, is said to have a history of violence.
