NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former Prime Minister and avid Valley Boys member Perry Christie is breaking his silence on the ongoing drama within the A-category Junkanoo group.

It comes days after the power struggle between two factions of the Valley Boys heated up.

He said he is a Valley Boy when I asked him directly which faction he supports.

The group has been unable to see eye to eye for months causing a split.

The faction being led by Brian Adderley is the World Famous Valley Boys while the other faction being led by Trevor Davis is the Way Forward Valley Boys.

On Tuesday, Youth, Sports and Culture Minister Mario Bowleg, announced Junkanoo seed funding would be withheld for the Valley Boys until a meeting this Sunday with members from both Valley Boys groups, Junkanoo officials and other stakeholders.

That same night, the Way Forward group issued an eviction notice for Claridge Road Shack.

The drama not sitting well with Christie who says he simply wants unity and shared what he thinks would be the perfect resolution.

The former prime minister says the matter has to be resolved because Junkanoo just wont be the same without the Valley Boys on Bay Street.

He also spoke fondly of his friend and founder of the Valley Boys Winston “Gus” Cooper. Christie says his legacy won’t be tarnished because of this.
