NASSAU, BAHAMAS – There’s a significant threat posed by transnational organized crime and the associated increase in violence according to top cops attending Interpol’s 26th Americas Regional Conference.

It’s one of many topics up for discussion over the next 3 days. They’re also expected to discuss human, drug, and firearms trafficking, and cybercrime during their meetings.

The conference, which is being held at the Atlantis Resort, is being attended by senior law enforcement officials from 35 countries across the region and the executive leadership of the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

According to the Interpol president, the region ranks high on their agenda.

But why is this important for us? Commissioner of Police Clayton Fernander says regional partnerships can help close the case on local crimes.

It’s not just information that’s vital, shared resources and manpower is something the commissioner says they are in full support of.
