LEBANON – The Lebanese Army has carried out a controlled explosion of a battery of a communications device in Southern Lebanon, near the border with Israel.

The operation took place a day after explosions of Hezbollah radios came on the heels of blasts in booby-trapped pagers, setting Israel and Hezbollah hurtling towards war.

Hand-held radios used by Hezbollah detonated on Wednesday across Lebanon’s South, killing 25 people in the country’s deadliest day since cross-border fighting erupted between the militants and Israel in parallel with the Gaza war last year.
