Coach Yo, Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Returning for Baha Mar Hoops

MISSISSIPPI, U.S.A. – Whether it’s for community outreach at a camp, an exhibition, or for the games that count, Yolett McPhee-McCuin never misses an opportunity to bring her Ole Miss Women’s Basketball program to The Bahamas.

Ole Miss will be the highlight for Bahamian fans on the thanksgiving slate for the Baha Mar Hoops Women’s Tournaments this fall.

Coach Yo’s squad, ranked no.24 in the nation by on3 sports, will compete in the Continental Tire Baha Mar Women’s Championship November 25 and 27 at the Baha Mar Convention Center.

Ole Miss will face the Boston College eagles on the 25 at 5 pm, followed by the no. 3 Uconn Huskies against Oregon State at 7:30 pm. 

The consolation game will start 5 pm. On nov. 27 with the championship game set to begin at 7:30 pm.  

Ole Miss recently hosted its first official practice of the 2024-25 season, her seventh season at the helm.

Baseball

A breakout season for sebastian walcott has earned him another postseason honor.

Walcott was named the Texas’ Rangers’ player of the year in the minor league across all levels – from rookie ball to Triple A.

Just last week, he was also named a South Atlantic League all star.

In 118 games with the Hickory Crawdads in high-a, he hit .261 with 10 home runs, 49 RBI and 26 stolen bases.

He also led the league with 50 extra base hits, including a league leading nine triples.

At the double-A level, he joined the Frisco Roughriders for a late season playoff run.

In his brief time with the club, Walcott hit .348 with three doubles and slugged .609.

Meanwhile, Team Bahamas hopes to field one of its most competitive teams for the upcoming Caribbean Cup, but there could be a few administrative issues – minor leaguers receiving clearance from their respective franchises.

Bahamas Bowl Update

Every Thursday, we update you on the best from Conference USA and the Mid-American conference as teams from both leagues continue to vye for spots in the Bahamas Bowl.

In C-USA the Liberty flames remain undefeated at 4-0 after a win over Bahamian Amarie Archer and the East Carolina Pirates.

The flames have never appeared in the Bahamas Bowl, and received four votes in this week’s AP Top 25 poll. 

Western Kentucky defensive back Devonté Matthews picked off two passes in the redzone in his team’s 26-21 win over toledo. 

In Maction, Buffalo – the 2019 Bahamas Bowl winners – defeated no. 23 Northern Illinois, 23-20. 

Buffalo linebacker Shaun Dolac had a career high 19 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and an interception.
