HAITI – Over 700,000 people are now displaced in Haiti, with more than half being children, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

This marks a 22% rise since June, driven by escalating gang violence, especially in Gressier, near Port-Au-Prince. Over 110,000 people have fled their homes in the last seven months.

The violence intensified in February with attacks on prisons and state institutions, leading to the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry. A UN-backed, Kenya-led force has been deployed to help.

The IOM called for international aid, noting most displaced are sheltering in provinces with host families.
