NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – An inmate was allegedly caught with contraband after returning to prison from court.

Prison authorities allegedly found twenty-four-year-old Calvins Alain with a cellphone, 10 packs of cigarettes, 34 rolling wrapper papers, three pounds of marijuana and a Bluetooth radio when he returned to the correctional facility on September 19 while on trial for armed robbery and attempted murder.

Alain denied charges of introducing prohibited items into a correctional facility and drug possession with intent to supply when he was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Kendra Kelly.

Alain was denied bail and his trial is set for December 16.

Meanwhile, Alain is awaiting sentencing in the Supreme Court after he was convicted of the armed robbery and attempted murder of his alleged romantic partner.

Jurors accepted that Alain  robbed Jamaal Ferguson at gunpoint and shot after they went out for drinks on April 12, 2022.

According to Ferguson, he was in a romantic relationship with Alain. However, Alain denied this.
